Jordan’s Story

"I went from being shy, depressed and wanting to give up and die, to someone who I never thought I would be today. This all because of my involvement with Working for Health."Jordan | East Riding

In the Beginning….

I experienced relentless bullying due to a stutter by peers at school, which left me feeling alienated. After leaving school, I went through relationship problems, which heightened my low mood and lead to self-harm and suicide attempts. This low self-esteem affected my ability to secure employment.

How we helped Jordan….

After gaining vocational qualifications and entering a healthy relationship, I felt ready to seek employment. I was referred to Working for Health who worked with me to improve my mood, sleeping, eating and exercise. Through these sessions I grew confident in myself and started to change my perspective on life. Also with support, I did stuff I never thought I could do. I travelled to another country, I changed my appearance and grew from the person I once was to someone who was happy, confident and completely different. I went from being shy, depressed and wanting to give up and die, to someone who I never thought I would be today. This all because of my involvement with Working for Health. They supported me through one the hardest challenges in my life. I receive practical support with creating a well-presented CV as well as emotional support to build confidence and self-esteem.

The Future….

I have since had a work trial at a local firm on a production line. This has led to permanent employment, supported all the way by Working for Health and great understanding and support from HR. A future is now in sight.
