Andrew’s Story
“I am now feeling much happier and more positive in life, enjoying a more active social and sporty lifestyle”Andrew | Hull
In the Beginning….
I had worked as a Salesman for a reputable food and drink company for 18 years. However, triggered by bereavement, I began to experience feelings of low mood. This was heightened by a long-term physical health condition and lack of support at work by management. The led to depression, thoughts of self-harm and suicide. As a result, I felt I had to resign from my job.
How we helped Andrew….
With support from family, I was encouraged to seek help. I began taking antidepressants and attending a support group, Blokes United. Whilst attending this group, I was then referred to Working for Health. Initially, I received emotional support and help with job searches and revising my CV. I was successful in gaining interviews and support around interview techniques.
The future…
I am now feeling much happier and more positive in life, enjoying a more active social and sporty lifestyle. I have also been able to secure employment and looking to the future, hope to live independently.
